Kogi Varsity, 6 Others Embark On Indefinite Strike As Tertiary Institutions Move To Sue Kogi Govt.

images_12 The Joint Action Committee (JAC), Kogi State University Anyigba, has directed its members to totally embark on an indefinite strike action on Tuesday 31st January, 2017 as declared by JAC of all tertiary institutions in the state.

In a communique signed by secretaries of NAAT, NASU and SSANU, Comrade Shaibu Moses, Emmanuel Yusuf as well as Eunice Igono, they resolved that there shall be no JAC congress before the commencement of the indefinite action.
They resolved and approved that the 3 unions in JAC namely NAAT, NASU and SSANU, start a process of litigation at the National industrial court against Kogi state government and the Kogi State University, Anyigba on behalf of all its members.
The Congress said the state government has not only violated but has no regards for the Law of federal Republic of Nigeria with respect to retirement age and other matters in the tertiary institution.
The communique read that all members on the uncleared list should attend the re-screening exercise by the appeal committee which has non of its member representing the tertiary institutions advising them to be law abiding and well behaved.
Joint Action Committee of the three unions applauded its executives for their effort put to resolve issues arising from the ongoing screening exercise.
It also appreciate the University management for their effort in ensuring that workers of the University scales through the screening exercise successfully.
We also gathered that Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja, Kogi State College of Education, Ankpa, Kogi State College of Education Technical, Kabba, College of Nursing and Midwifery, Obangede, College of Health, Sciences and Technology, Idah and Kogi State University Teaching Hospital, Anyigba are not left out in the indefinite strike action to press home a common demand.
Last Tuesday, suspected armed robbers attacked Kogi State College of Education, COE Ankpa staff going to Lokoja for 3rd round of screening, no lives lost but documents were carted away.
