Academic staff union of university (ASUU), Kogi State University Chapter embarked on an indefinite strike on the 3rd of February, 2017.
The update on this strike is given below;
The on-going Kogi state tertiary institution strike may perhaps be called of this week as all hands are on decks for resolution to make sure the 1 month old strike be called off. This information is linked from ” Whatsapp group known as protest to end strike.” However, the purpose of creating the group is to organize a protest so as to end the on-going strike.
The protest which is schedules to hold today the 6th of march, 2017 has been suspended due to the information received from the commissioner of Education who claimed that different measures have been put in place to end the strike as stakeholders have been meeting with the management of the affected schools since last week in-order to find solution to the on=going strike in kogi state tertiary institutions. Thus, they also assured that something positive will happen this week ” this morning we got a report from CP Kogi state that the schools and government have reached an appoint to call-off the strike this week and appealed that we suspend the protest since all we want is that the school should resume. The commissioner assured us that they have been holding several meetings with affected schools since last monday and that with the discussion so far schools will resume this very week and that they will finalize everything and call off the strike”. source: group admin of the whatsapp group.
Therefore, the admin of the group went further to assure the students that if nothing is done between now and wednesday another protest will be organised.
